If you've been to www.jonwatts.com lately, you may have noticed some changes. Well. Alotof changes.
Oh Internet, how I love/loathe you.
There's one thing that we can all agree on about the internet: it's here. I have spent most of my life in denial about the necessity of engaging with this tool in order to be a succesful musician.
Three years ago, I decided to engage. I made a myspace page. The rest is history.
Ok, not really. I took an online class in Search Engine Optimization and web marketing. I have studied social media marketing on my own time and I taught myself html and css... wordpress, twitter, and on and on. I've been working hard here.
Oops, I did it.
This past summer I stumbled upon success. My youtube video went viral and the resulting flood of traffic to my website made it real instead of inconsequential fun and games (see: Bull and Mouth Records).
Now I'm studying viral marketing, but that's for another newsletter.
"Why don't you get signed or hire someone else to do all of this stuff for you?"
What would be the fun in that?
The Plan
Now that this is all very real and people are blogging about me and linking to me from all over the web, I have taken this Fall to step back and consider how to maintain the most effective online presence into the future. Welcome to Jon Watts 2.0:
